RANDY GOSTICK

January 5, 1955 – January 1, 2003

Randy Gostick made a tremendous contribution to the Bracebridge Soccer Club, 

the game of soccer, and to our local community. In a lifetime that was too short, 

he made a difference in many of our lives, and we will cherish the memories.

Randy Gostick was a person who touched many lives, in the community of Bracebridge and beyond. As a father, and as a husband, he had a huge impact, and many shared in the pride and the happiness that Randy experienced with his family.

Randy was also a tremendous athlete, and the consummate team player. He played on many teams – touch football, broomball, and, of course, soccer – that won championships on numerous occasions. But all the time, he had fun, he was great to be with during the game and after the game, and he made a difference in every game he played.

More importantly, Randy was a builder in our community. He was instrumental in starting and building our soccer club, in building our soccer fields, and in building the skills and the character of our young soccer players, over more than three decades.

Randy was a player and an organizer on the first competitive soccer team to represent Bracebridge. He was a founding member of the Bracebridge Soccer Club; one of its first Presidents, serving in that capacity for a number of years; and he continued as an active member of the Board of Directors, in many varied positions, until the final weeks of his life.

He was primarily responsible for the initiation and the development of recreational and competitive youth teams in Bracebridge, and he was the Club’s longest serving Coach. He was a tireless volunteer for the Bracebridge Soccer Club, and stellar in his commitment to the Club and the game.

As a teacher, as a coach, as a role model, Randy made a difference in the lives of hundreds of people in this community. As a person, he enjoyed his life, and he shared the good times and the tougher times with many, many players, volunteers and families associated with the Bracebridge Soccer Club. Soccer was his passion, yet his contributions went well beyond a single sport.

Randy Gostick made a difference in our lives, and we will cherish the memories.
